Most Bottega workshops will take place on location in the 16th century monastery of Sant’Andrea in Collevecchio, Italy. Collevecchio is in the beautiful and historic Sabina region of Italy, one hour north of Rome, and 2 hours from Florence, Siena, Assisi, Cortona and Perugia.
The convent, built around 1600 for the humble lifestyle of the Cappuccini monks, has been restored to maintain its original function as a simple place of study, collaboration and worship. Rooms are the original friar “cells,” and are either single with a shared bath, or double and triple with bath. It remains an oasis for a simple life of contemplation and creation. Participants will have a rare opportunity to execute original work in this historic site.
The center of Collevecchio is a short walk (1 km)from the Convent, where you can find a restaurant, bar, bank with ATM, pharmacy, and a grocery store. Collevecchio train station is about 4 km from the Convent, where there is a direct train to Rome center (one hour ride), Fiumicino airport, and to Orte, for connections to Florence and points north. Bicycle and car rentals can be arranged for those interested. These are great ways to visit to many medieval towns close to Collevecchio.
NB. Workshop locations may vary according to specific course/project and number of students.
Our fresco painting workshops take place on site at the Capo Croce Chapel in Cottanello.
